The city of Baltimore located close to
Washington D.C is fast becoming a great center of tourism and travel.
Home to the famous John Hopkins University,
Baltimore also has a famous commercial strip where some of the biggest business
companies have their offices. Baltimore
is home to more than 20,000 business establishments and is Maryland’s second
largest jurisdiction in terms of jobs. Right from firms that manufacture high
tech products to advertising companies and even hospitals, Baltimore has a
plethora of large private, public and Government organizations that employ
locals and outsiders and offer well paying jobs with good working environments
across industries.
The Regions Biggest Employers
Jobs in Baltimore are plenty and almost all organizations have
been known to be hiring since late 2012. The recession and lay off period seems
to have ended for Marylanders as most companies, particularly medical
institutes and hospitals in the Baltimore area have begun to hire voraciously.
The John Hopkins University Applied Physics
laboratory is supposedly Baltimore’s biggest employer with 22,000 people
employed under its payroll.
Some of the other best jobs in Baltimore can be found at the John Hopkins Medical
institutions group that includes the John Hopkins Hospital, John Hopkins Bay view
medical center, John Hopkins University School of nursing and a few other
institutes. This institution hires as many as 20,000 healthcare professionals.
Black and Decker Corp is another small appliance
manufacturing company that accounts for a large number of jobs in Baltimore.
The University system of Maryland employs
roughly 9500 employees either part or full time.
Retail Giant Wall-Mart Inc has more than 8000
employees hired in its Baltimore outlets and offices.
The Constellation Energy Group Inc has 6500
locals hired under its group and Giant Food LLC has more than 7400 local
employees.
The Great Baltimore Medical center employs
approximately 3700 employees and the Towson University approximately 3500.
A few of Baltimore’s other biggest employers
include AOL Advertising, Laureate education, the Mercy Medical center, The
Mariott International, The U.S social security administration and the M and T
Bank.
Baltimore’s top employers span across industries, however its medical
institutions especially John Hopkins hospital and medical center are
undoubtedly the largest employers since years.
